Kong Jie (9d) defeated Chen Yaoye (T) by resignation to win the 5th Qiwang Cup title match. This was a rather intense game, played very well by both contenders. Kong Jie has yet another title win under his belt, leaving no doubt that he is one of the top professional Go players in the world.

Song Ronghui wins stage 2 of the 8th Jeongganjang Cup

Song Ronghui (5d) of China defeated Mukai Chiaki (3d) of Japan in the 6th round, 2nd stage, of the Jeongganjang Cup. Song Ronghui advances to the 3rd and final stage, facing Korea’s Park Jieun (9d) in the 1st round, which will be played on February 1, 2010.
